Here I'd like to talk about features you would like to see in the sequel we're making. I'll start off:
I would like a more cinematic experience. And I don't mean cinematic in the 'BethSoft Fallout 3 slowmo death scenes' way. I mean cinematic as in 'memorable'. So what does this mean? Well, one thing to add would be the NPC dialogue. So let's say you've wandered the wastelands and have arrived at a town, NPC#1 has memories about this place. He goes "ah Paris... sweet, sweet Paris." When you click on this guy to speak with him, the dialogue window pops up with the regular NPC stuff, but you can also ask about what he just said. This starts a conversation about his past, giving the player more info about this character and thus making it more likely that he will bond with him. Like the original Fallout dialogue, most dialogue can be canceled saying something like "I'm not interested
" at certain points, but once the conversation got going good, it shouldn't be stopped to easily. Think of the genius Harold bit in the Hub. There are certain moments to drop out, but if the NPC sounds interesting enough (which was the case with Harold in my case) the player will keep going until all the wanted information has been received, or until the NPC himself says "never mind, let's get going." There should be conversation options as well, branching into other options with no return until you talk with him again (like the original Fallout). And there are more things that could make the game more cinematic/memorable, but this would be the biggest feature in that department, I guess.
So that's what I would like to see. Do you think it sounds good or not? And more importantly, what do you want?
