I think it's time to decide upon this matter, it would really help everyone who is either writing or designing something for our project. So...
The United States Pro's: -Fifties Americana -Atmosphere will be easier to recreate -Language
Cons: -Limits, if we want to stay true to the originals, the world must be alike
Europe Pro's -We can create something totally new -No limits/boundaries, it takes place in a unexplained world -Interesting for others to see how Europe did during these times
Cons: -It's different from the US, obviously, so perhaps less like Fallout. -Language, each country has its own, though this can be ignored for gameplay's sake.
That's all I can think of. So what do you say? I really like Europe for the sake of creating something totally new. But using the US as a setting is probably a bit easier overall. So I have no real preference, actually.
Vote people, vote! And please explain your vote.

I actually didn't get this argument you mentioned:
"Limits, if we want to stay true to the originals, the world must be alike". Could you explain it in simpler terms? If it's America, the atmosphere is indeed easy to re-create.
Now to the vote. First of all, I must note that both EU, US and anything else is acceptable for me. For example, if people decides to move the game to Australia, I don't mind, as long as there is compromise between us. Personally, I regard this project as an interesting challenge for me, boosted by my love for Fallout. So, my message is that I won't give up if my little personal choice of classic US setting wouldn't correspond with the point view of majority. US, it is, but above all I choose the compromise between all of us.
I encourage to be constructive.

When US then it has to use parts of by Beth licenced Fallout franchise. So I rather like to set it to Europe so we could start fresh, at all i would be easier since we would not have to think about what we may use and for what we could get our heads chopped. All in all the US setting will be overused with Fallout3 at least. Europe has much! more potential.

What I meant with the limits in the US is that we have to stick with a lot of material given in the previous parts: Technology, weaponry, Brahmin, that sorta stuff.

Where ever this game takes place, it's going to be great. Since I want the old nostalgic feel of this first two games. I vote for US.

Well, you should know I'm for it being in the US, as it's not a spiritual sequel without the Americana. Plus, since it is not a true sequel, we don't need to have anything about it reflect Fallout, except the atmosphere - that's what they're for, to escape lawsuits.

Is it possible to have some sort of compromise? This is what really matters - we need people to work together So my question is: will everybody stay, if their opinion will not correspond with the others'? As for me, I will.

Okay, I need a location before I can write more stuff. This hasn't helped us much either =/ I say either Europe or Texas. But I need this to be decided before I can make up locations and storylines that fit them.

Hey Keono, I think you should stuck on the location you already got and evolve the story you made. You can do it easily on the wiki really. Actually someone who likes to do an alternative story which takes place in some other location can post it there aswell.

Well, I'll keep my story unconnected to a location for now. The main story is as I've written, but I've got some other plots revolving around certain towns. I'll just write these without mentioning either Europe or the US.

Well, I voted for Europe because It will give us more room to expand. Also, I don't want Bethesda to slaughter us for infringing on their copyright. P.S. I am kind of curious what happened to Russia and Te European nations... a few cryptic messages were found in The Glow (Fallout 1) and from the Enclave (Fallout 2) bu not much was said. Freedom would be given to us.
