I am not sure if this forum is strictly regulated to people who have the abilities/talents to contribute, or if you are open to accepting anybody with interest.
I'm no programmer, I'm just another fan of Fallout such as yourself.
In fact when Fallout came out, I was only about 12 or 13 years old. I heard of the game from my older-cousin who played the hell out of it (he used a trainer though, tsk tsk), and at that time only got to watch him play it (he's the "I get first-player" kind of gamer ). However the game looked awesome none the less.
Then when I was walking through Fry's Electronics with a friend of mine, we were just thumbing through the aisles of games, and it hit me like a ton of bricks: a game-disc containing Fallout, Fallout 2, and Fallout Tactics. I grabbed my friend by the collar with both hands, "LUIS, WE NEED THIS. Long story short, he and I are now avid Fallout fans.
We got the game(s) in January. Between then and now I have played no other games (except GTA IV ); I spent my gaming time playing, and beating, each game back to back.
So as I've told many people on other forums whose first reactions were telling me to "Go back to NMA forums" Which funny enough, is how I found out about NMA. I have not been a long-time fan as I did not get to enjoy the game when it came out. However, I would say I am a die-hard fan of the game. I, as I'm sure many of you have, have found myself staying up to 3am playing the game. It was such a compelling and convincing environment, and I'd always want just a little more...just a little further into The Glow while the RadX lasts...just another few days travel to get the G.E.C.K. back to arroyo...just a couple more skirmishes with raiders and I can afford metal armor.
But the thing I loved about the game the most was its freedom. When I say this I mean it in the sense that, whatever kind of character you made you could always be successful as long as you played the role of that character. Granted, some paths are obviously harder or easier than others, it was the fact that each path was possible to complete.
I also loved that Fallout was savage, and unforgiving.
On a side note, that's retarded how they were talking about there will generally be "stealth boy, combat boy, and charisma boy" They've over-simplified just a bit. Even though it has only been since this year that I got to delve into the world of Fallout, I myself am greatly dissatisfied...well, closer to offended to what Bethesda is doing with Fallout 3. They're taking a great game, and smearing their ego and bad-habits all over it. It's like watching your favorite pet get taxidermied before your very eyes.
I couldn't believe Bethesda's attitudes towards responses from the fans to the game. Calling fans of the game "fanatics" was just bogus and disrespectful. And from reading fan interviews and hearing more details about the game as time goes on, it seems like they're not good at making any games that don't relate to Elder Scrolls in some way. As another forum goer I've talked with has said, none of us are looking forward to the release of "Oblivion with Gunz" in the fall.
I'd like to join these forums to commend what you are all doing, and observe your tribulations as you bring this game to life. I can't say I could contribute much of anything; I could amuse you with some art perhaps, and at best give you feedback if you're willing to listen.
So, my name is Dan. I'm 22
Life-longer gamer, head-over-heels for Fallout
And I'd love to see you all succeed.
